Step into the living history of Kreuzberg — a neighborhood shaped by war, resistance, migration, and radical imagination.
This immersive walking tour takes you deep into the heart of one of Berlin’s most iconic districts. From the bombed ruins of 1945 to Cold War isolation, from 1970s squatter uprisings to today’s waves of gentrification, Kreuzberg has always been a place where outsiders come to survive, resist, and create.
Central to this story is the Turkish community, whose arrival in the 1960s and 70s as so-called Gastarbeiter (guest workers) helped rebuild postwar Berlin — and whose families made Kreuzberg their home. We explore how migration, especially from Turkey, transformed the district's culture, economy, and street life.
